Belonging Day
This an opportunity to bring your group together at an outdoor site to have fun, build a sense of belonging and togetherness, and also foster a sense of belonging in the countryside. This activity can be scaled to fit your numbers.
We would plan a day and use a site bespoke for your context and your group, but an example of a day run recently for a group of 120 Year 9 students looked like this:
- 9.30am: arrive at Barton Camp Outdoor Centre
- Briefing and group guided walk up Crook Peak.
- Individuals reflect on their journey of education and record their thoughts in the provided leaflet while enjoying the views from the top.
- Lunch and walk down.
- Afternoon of team-building challenges in groups of 10, interspersed with leaders helping to guide reflections of groups and individuals.
- Capture the Gold: a chance for individuals to record the encouragements and insights they have gained, supported by leaders.
- Fun Finish: groups are given access to a variety of balls and cones and they have to create and successfully play as many different games as they can devise, using the teamwork and communication skills they have learnt.
- 4.00pm Departure
